Community Involved. Mutually Dependent.

ESI is focused on helping the people we serve build relationships to the resources available in the community. We also work to develop a community that supports and encourages people with disabilities to be actively engaged in a meaningful way and contribute to their local community.

When clients join the ESI community, they work alongside their peers to form friendships and self-identity to help learn self-determination and communication skills. The structure of our services encourages independence, purpose and achievement, giving clients a sense of common goals and the skill to advocate for what they want in their life.

Many individuals come to ESI to work on improving the skills of everyday living and to master or rebuild physical ability and mental agility. This allows them to expand and maintain a quality life with dignity and respect. A variety of activities help to improve mobility, enhance living skills, encourage self-determination and increase feelings of self-confidence. We also team clients together based on similar interests and abilities, so they can learn to build relationships and achieve a sense of belonging.

MyCommunity Programs

Community based day service and pre-vocational programs are designed to build a familiarity with resources available outside of ESI and to enhance client’s comfort level with being part of the local community. Activities often include time at the fitness center or volunteering at area nonprofits, supporting the animal shelter or building book boxes. You’ll find our clients all over the county exploring and experiencing local life.
